Nana Addai Gyamera I, the Fayiase Akoyemhene of Bosomtwi, recently made a notable commitment to Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate and Ghana's Vice President, during a gathering at Bosomtwi in the Ashanti Region Although Ghanaian chiefs are constitutionally barred from openly participating in partisan politics, Nana Gyamera made it clear that he fully intends to vote for Bawumia in the upcoming election, hinting at the support he and his people might offer if the NPP prioritizes the community's development needs. "Even though we, as chiefs, are prohibited by law from engaging in politics, the people look to us for guidance on which direction to vote," Nana Gyamera said, addressing the assembled group of community leaders and residents. "If you want our support, Vice President, then you need to look closely at what is lacking here and ensure improvements are made." Nana Gyamera emphasized the importance of visible development, urging Dr.
Bawumia to work closely with the local MP and the District Chief Executive to address the town's pressing needs. "We know you have the vision to lead, but to gain our confidence, it is critical you partner with the Member of Parliament and the DCE to push our community forward," he advised.
