Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic party (NPP) stalwart, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, has stirred fresh debate within Ghana's political landscape by claiming that former president and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is allegedly backing independent candidates who recently split from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an exclusive video shared with MyNewsGH.com during Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign tour of the Bekwai Constituency, Wontumi voiced his concerns about Mahama's alleged strategy to fracture the NPP's voter base, particularly in the Ashanti Region, a traditional NPP stronghold.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of NPP supporters at a rally, Chairman Wontumi recounted an incident that he claimed exposed the lengths some individuals will go to undermine the NPP.
According to Wontumi, an unnamed aspiring candidate together with, Kwabena Nyame, visited his residence bearing both a bottle of Schnapp and a sum of cash-a traditional gesture sometimes used to seek favour or offer respect.
