Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called for calm following his recent decision to indefinitely adjourn parliamentary proceedings, assuring the public that this move aligns fully with parliamentary authority.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, November 6, Bagbin explained his actions amid rising tensions between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who are disputing which party holds the Majority in Parliament.

The Speaker first adjourned Parliament on October 22, citing unresolved issues related to the House's composition and operational dynamics.

This decision has heightened the ongoing political standoff, which recently saw NPP members stage a walkout, leading to a lack of quorum for parliamentary decisions.
