Daniel Asiedu, the lead suspect in the murder of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North has maintained that he was coerced by police officers into admitting to the crime.
Testifying to his own defence in the ongoing jury trial on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Asiedu led by his lawyer told an Accra High Court presided by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo that he was detained, assaulted and forced to sign a statement admitting to the crime after he had reported earlier to the Accra Regional Police Command to file a complaint.
Reiterating his earlier testimony to the court, Sexy Don as he is popularly referred to, said he was nowhere near the crime scene on the night of the murder but was around Agbogloshie where he had engaged the service of a prostitute.
He said following an alleged threat by a pimp, he sought to file a police complaint but was advised against it by one Adotey whom he later found out to be a police informant. "My lady, it was at dawn when I went to the police regional headquarters to lodge a complaint against some people who had come to where I had gone to patronize the services of a prostitute.
