Flagbearer of the (NDC), , has described the recent power outages in the country as a self-inflicted issue arising from what he termed the Akufo-Addo administration's poor management of Ghana's energy sector.

John Mahama expressed concern that the current government's approach to handling the energy crisis was designed to delay and ultimately transfer the burden to the next administration. "They are just managing the situation to pass it now to the next NDC government.
