Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, has approached former President John Mahama with a complaint about how poverty is deeply affecting his constituency. When the flag bearer of the NDC arrived in Pelungu as part of his campaign tour of the Upper East Region, the lawmaker seized the opportunity to discuss the multidimensional poverty index report by the Ghana Statistical Service. The report revealed that the Nabdam District is the poorest district in Ghana, with a multidimensional poverty rate of 68.6%. This is about 11 times higher than the national rate of 24.3%.
