Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Alex Apau Dadey, has criticized Ghana's new betting tax, arguing that it derails the gains made so far in the sector. In an exclusive interview on TV3's Business Focus, hosted by Paa Kwesi Asare, he discussed the efforts made by himself and others to promote lotteries and betting in Ghana."We fought it.
We engaged the GRA, we engaged the authorities, and that is a wrong thing," he stated. When asked why it is wrong, he explained, "We are trying to promote using digital means to grow our economy.
I believe that at one point, when we have achieved that, we can look at it.
But at this point, taking the lotteries sector as an example, it was so hard to bring it to this level, and taxing it means reversing the gains.
