Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of Operations at Ghana's Electoral Commission, has urged political party leaders to be mindful of their public statements to prevent violence.
Speaking at the National Peace Campaign on November 3, Mr Tettey emphasized that unguarded comments could fuel tensions, undermine trust, and lead to violent outcomes.
He called on party leaders to be responsible and circumspect in their utterances. "Our call is to the leadership of the political parties to be circumspect, to be responsible in their utterances.
Because it's our utterances that lead to the tensions and suspicions and undermine the trust, and confidence which could lead violent outcomes." Mr Tettey's appeal comes as Ghana prepares for its general elections on December 7.
