President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed pride in the government's commitment to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy despite challenges faced since its implementation.
According to him, despite the challenges that the policy faced over the years, such as COVID-19, the government managed to maintain the free SHS policy to date.
Speaking at Prempeh College's 75th-anniversary celebration in Kumasi on Saturday, November 2, 2024, he highlighted the resilience of the programme, which continues to benefit students across Ghana. "I'm proud that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we have maintained and seen the successful implementation of the Free SHS policy. "We have not wavered in our commitment to providing free education to all Ghanaian students, and we will continue to work towards making sure that every child in Ghana has access to quality education," he stated.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the government's significant investment in education, noting that it surpassed previous administrations in terms of funding and infrastructure development across various sectors within education. "We have invested heavily in the education sector more than any other government.
