The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has temporarily closed its Bawku branch due to escalating violence in the area, adding to the list of institutions that have suspended operations amid the ongoing conflict.
Until this closure, ADB was the last commercial bank in the area, with only BESSFA Rural Bank remaining.
Over the past few years, several major institutions have pulled out of Bawku due to safety concerns, including Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the Circuit and District Courts, and retail chain Melcom Ghana.
In a statement, ADB confirmed its decision, saying: "The Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB) announces the temporary closure of its Bawku Branch due to the current volatile security situation in the area.
