Former President of Ghana, , has promised to introduce a special housing scheme for fixed-income earners in Ghana. The houses, according to the former president, will be priced in cedis to allow for easy patronage. "Government workers or anybody who has formal employment, we are introducing a housing program for you." "So if you're working, you have an income, and you have 15 to 20 years of your working life left, we will give you the design of the house; it will be in cedis, not dollars," he said. "You show where you want the house to be built; the house will be built, and we will deduct from your salary month by month for 15 years or 20 years until you finish paying for it," he added. "So nurses, doctors, and everybody who has a fixed income. You can build it in your hometown, where you work, so that you don't have to pay rent. This will be available for those who have working lives of 15 to 20 years," he said while campaigning.
