The entire staff of the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapem in the Eastern Region, have taken to the streets in protest following the tragic death of their colleague, midwife Ruth Nartey.

On Wednesday, October 27, 2024, Ruth was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near the hospital premises.

She is said to have been receiving treatment at the Greater Accra Hospital (Ridge Hospital) in Accra, where she had been transferred to, but sadly succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

Dressed in red and carrying placards, the hospital staff expressed their grief and frustration, with inscriptions on placards that read, "How many will you kill?" 'Ruth Nartey, Rest In Peace," and "Who will be the next victim on the TQMH stretch?" An eyewitness, Sampson Ayisi, told 's George Ayisi, that the unfortunate incident happened when the midwife was on her way home. "She came for morning duty but she closed at 2PM and decided to wait for a while.
