Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, Director of Conflict Resolution at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has challenged the government to explain why the electronic levy (E-levy) was introduced.

While sharing his opinion during a panel discussions on TV3's NewDay  monitored by MyNewsGh.com,  he stated that COVID-19 era brought huge sums of money to the government hence had no reason to introduce the E-Levy.

This argument from Abraham Amaliba follows after the latest Afrobarometer report indicated that nearly 80% of Ghanaians want E-levy canceled by the next government.

He disclosed that during the COVID era, although it was a difficult moment for Ghanaians, the government got a lot of money which shot the revenue of the country up hitting the set target. "Covid brought huge sums of money to this government.
