The Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council has formally denied allegations of supporting Agona West Member of Parliament Cynthia Morrison's decision to run as an independent candidate after losing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary.

According to the council, rumours have been circulating that spokesperson Kofi Osei falsely attributed the chiefs of Agona as the driving force behind Morrison's independence.

Mankrado Nana Akufo IV clarified that these claims are untrue and cautioned the public against spreading misinformation.

He also urged Kofi Osei to retract his statement. "We picked up information that Cynthia Morrison had stepped down.
