In a recent social media post, renowned Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie expressed her opinion on boundaries in marriage, specifically about married men maintaining friendships with their ex-partners or other female friends.     The thespian insisted that a married man's "only female best friend should be his wife," stressing that if he cherishes his bond with his ex, he should have chosen to stay with her. "Why drop her?" she questioned, "Call her your ex, marry an entirely different woman, and then go back to relate with that same ex while still married to your wife?" This, she said, places unnecessary "mental and emotional stress" on the wives of these men, creating strain and distrust within marriages.

Through her post on Instagram, Rita Edochie candidly addressed single women who claim to be best friends with married men, labeling them as "potentially side chicks." She added, "Stop deceiving yourselves; when she becomes your ex, move on and focus on your wife." She warned that keeping such "bestie" arrangements can lead to complications that could eventually bring about discussions of a second wife, something she deemed damaging to the marriage structure.Switching to a mix of pidgin and English, the actress added a colorful analogy: "Goat and yam no dey stay together simple," emphasizing her view that temptations often arise when a married man and his female "bestie" are left alone.

She underscored that loyalty to one's wife should be a priority, pointing out how certain past relationships resurface in the guise of friendship, blurring boundaries and compromising marital trust.

In her closing statement, Edochie didn't mince words about the emotional impact these situations have on spouses, urging both men and women to honor the sanctity of marriage by maintaining clear boundaries.
