Students at the Accra College of Education have welcomed the proposal to close down the school over halt in academic activities due to the strike by their teachers. The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG), in a statement to the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education-Ghana demanded the closure of all the 46 public Colleges of Education across the country by Monday, August 12. The group also wants the current academic calendar to be revised, insisting 54 days of no academic work has rendered the current semester useless. The Colleges of Education Teachers' Association of Ghana (CETAG) has been on strike since June 14. They have accused government of failing to address concerns related to their conditions of service.
