The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has urged restraint amid the ongoing conflict in Bawku, calling on the public to avoid blame games and allow the government to address the situation effectively.
The unrest follows the controversial return of Seidu Abagre to Bawku on October 24, after he was enskinned as Bawku Naba in February 2023.
Despite the lack of legal recognition for this title, his presence has exacerbated tensions between rival factions, resulting in multiple clashes.
During a press conference on Tuesday, October 29, Asamoah Boateng emphasized the government's commitment to resolving the issue impartially. "The government, through my ministry and my colleagues, will keep listening to you and act with impartiality and in a firm manner to build and maintain the peace of Bawku and its environs as well as any other part of the country. "I will employ all sides to stop the conspiracy theories going around and blame games and keep calm to allow the government to deal with the security and chieftaincy issues thereof," he stated.
