On Tuesday, the lucky man from North Carolina visited a convenience shop, unaware that fortune was about to favour him.
Jerry Hicks, a master carpenter from Banner Elk, discovered a $20 bill in the store's car park, as mentioned in a news release.
He decided to use it to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket - and won $1 million.
Hicks explained that he chose an Extreme Cash scratch-off ticket because his initial choice was unavailable.
