The new Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayokor Botchway has arrived in Ghana after her successful election at the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2024) in Apia, Samoa, on October 26.

Her victory marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first African woman to hold the post.

She was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, dignitaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, traditional leaders and some members ruling the New Patriotic Party.
