The Minority in Parliament has urged the Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, to render an apology to Ghanaians for the many economic sins of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government that has brought untold hardship on Ghanaians. The minister, at a townhall meeting in Accra on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, pleaded for forgiveness from the people of Ghana for the economic difficulties being experienced through the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme. But the minority in a statement signed by its leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and dated August 9, 2024, said it finds it strange that the minister in the same speech lauded the unpopular and painful DDEP, saying it was highly successful. "While the Minister admits that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government has brought untold hardship on Ghanaians, he attributed this to the DDEP claiming it was painful but necessary for economic recovery.
