The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has condemned the decision by heads of senior high schools to impose sanctions on teachers who miss sessions of the Professional Learning Community Programme. They deem an embargo on teachers' salaries for months as unlawful and are calling on the Ghana Education Service to instruct school heads to cease the action at a media briefing in Koforidua."In reference to section 20 of Act 651, i.e., the labour law categorically state that, "In any undertaking, every worker shall be entitled to leave for not less than 15 working days with full pay in any calendar year of continuous service".

What this means is that, the lowest ranked public service worker should enjoy not less than 15 working days of leave annually.

The number of annual leave days varies according to the rank of the public sector workers.

Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and it is imperative that, they are giving the support and the resources they need to do their jobs effectively.
