A former Chairman of the Democrat Union of Africa (DUA), Peter Mac Manu, has called on African nations to redouble their efforts in cultivating and strengthening democratic institutions. He says while democracy is not a flawless system, its principles and values are essential for achieving long-term prosperity and stability. Peter Mac Manu, also Head of Electoral Affairs for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, and a former long-term chairman of the New Patriotic Party was addressing the Democrat Union of Africa (DUA) Forum 2024, in Accra, on Thursday, August 8. He reminded the audience, which included Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, of the famous words of Abraham Lincoln, that "Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people," and urged all African citizens to actively participate in their democratic journey to ensure that their nations thrive and prosper.
