The Head of Women and Gender of the Health Services Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana, Madam Harriet Sobuor has disclosed that the Ghana Health Service has started recording cases of men who have breast cancer, including some school children through the breast screening campaign activities across the schools.
She revealed alarming breast cancer cases of over 4,000, including; women and men recorded this year.
According to her, statistics showed that several women were dying of breast cancer every year and called on the general public to pay particular attention to breast cancer detection and report to hospitals for medication as soon as possible. "In view of this, the Health Services Workers Union has taken it upon itself not to do this education only in October but it's an ongoing programme.
But October being the pink month, we have heightened our campaign as far as breast cancer is concerned", she stated.
