Madam Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, has strongly refuted allegations that she accepted a GH₵50 million bribe from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to abandon her independent candidacy and return to the party.

Speaking on Adom FM's Ekosiisen program, which was monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Madam Morrison set the records straight, emphasizing that her decision to go independent was borne out of frustration with the internal struggles within the party.

The former NPP stalwart expressed her disappointment with the party's leadership, noting that she had been alienated and sabotaged, ultimately leading to her losing the bid to represent the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections. "I never took any bribe, and I have no intention of going back to the party under such circumstances," she clarified. "There has been a lot of mistreatment, and that's why I made the decision to run as an independent candidate." Morrison, who has served as the MP for Agona West and as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, explained that she felt deeply hurt by how the party handled internal disputes, which she believes contributed to her being sidelined. "I've been loyal to the NPP for years, and I've served my constituency with dedication.

But the internal wrangling and the deliberate attempts to sabotage me became too much to bear," she shared.
