A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers and the Speaker of Parliament Alba Bagbin of engaging in 'constitutional lawlessness' in Parliament. This was after the NDC MPs occupied the Majority side of the House. He described the ruling of the Speaker in declaring the four seats vacant as an attempt to usurp the powers of the Supreme Court.Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Tuesday, October 22, he said "This is constitutional lawlessness by the NDC, you all know that the Supreme Court is the court that does interpretations of the law, it is ridiculous for the speaker to usurp the powers of the Supreme Court.
All that happened in parliament are signs of what Mahama said that the NDC comes from a revolutionary background and when it comes to unleashing violence nobody can beat them to it.
This is exactly what they are doing.
They know they are losing the election in 2024, it is clear."Whereas we are in the villages, and communities doing campaigns they are in Accra trying to massage their way to become majority when the people of Ghana have not voted for you."Also commenting on this matter, a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko has advised the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament to focus on convincing the undecided and unconvinced on how they will create jobs, reduce cost of living, fix the roads, secure access to health and education, and make the economy more predictable for business decisions ahead of the 2024 general elections. He says Ghanaians do not need "macho drama" in Parliament with just few days to the general elections.
