The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has announced plans to trigger a recall of Parliament on Wednesday, October 23, following Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to indefinitely adjourn the House.
The Effuttu MP attributed the Speaker's move to unresolved issues concerning the composition of Parliament but also suggested that it was a deliberate strategy to disrupt the legislative process in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.
In an interview on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 22, Afenyo-Markin raised concerns about signals from the opposition indicating their unwillingness to cooperate on government business during the recall.
He accused the Speaker of using the adjournment as a calculated tactic to impede government operations.
