The Parliament of Ghana has debunked claims that the Speaker of Parliament was captured going into a meeting with the President of Ghana to negotiate a settlement.
A statement from Parliament and signed by the Deputy Director of Media Relations, Lawrence Kwarteng-Ashia, said the video that has since gone viral was captured on July 4, 2024 when the Speaker went to present the maiden Democracy Cup to the President.
Parliament, in the statement, indicated that the attempt to impugn the Speaker's name is unfortunate and must not be entertained.
It called on the general public to treat with contempt attempts to hoodwink them into believing what has never transpired.
