The Minority Caucus in Parliament has announced plans to use its newfound majority to repeal the controversial e-levy and other taxes that it deems burdensome to Ghanaians.

This follows Speaker Alban Bagbin's declaration on Thursday, October 17, that four parliamentary seats were vacant.

His ruling came after three sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) indicated their intention to run as independent candidates in the 2024 general elections.

Additionally, the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, who initially entered Parliament in 2020 as an independent MP, announced his decision to contest the upcoming elections under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) banner.
