The President of the National Union of Ghana Students has been dragged to court by members of the Union for unduly overstaying his tenure contrary to the Constitution of the Union.

The National Union of Ghana Students, which is the mother body for students in Ghana, is preparing for an Emergency Congress after it failed to organize its elections in an earlier congress, which ended in chaos and electoral irregularities, with accusations of attempted rigging and financial malfeasance.

In a court suit filed at the Accra High Court, the NUGS President and his executives are accused of failing to hand over in the first week of September as stated by the constitution and also failing to organize elections by August 24th as provided by the constitution.

It is also noted that the first attempt at organizing the elections, which ended in chaos, was in breach of the constitution as it was organized on September 24, 2024, one month after the deadline provided by the union's constitution in Article 13.e.i, ii, iii.
