The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) announced on Thursday, August 8, 2024, to the general public that it had concluded its investigation into the Airbus SE scandal, which implicated former President and other officials of his government, including his brother, Samuel Adam Mahama. Addressing a press conference in Accra on the findings of the OSP on the Airbus Scandal, on August 8, 2024, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, among other things, disclosed that the "Government Official One" tag used in the Airbus scandal referred to former President Mahama. The Special Prosecutor also, for the first time, disclosed that he interviewed the former president about the scandal. He announced that Mahama and the other government officials implicated in the trial did nothing wrong and went ahead to clear them of the accusation of engaging in acts of corruption. He also indicated that he has directed Interpol to withdraw the Red Notice for Mahama's brother and the other accused persons.
