A member of good standing in the Catholic Church and a Mass Server, Vincent Ekow Assafuah has disagreed with the Church's approach to dealing with the galamsey fight.
Vincent Ekow Assafuah who is a Mass Server, Knight of Marshall, a former Seminarian and Member of Parliament(MP) Old Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region, faulted the leadership of the Church for adopting such an approach.
On his verified Facebook page days after members and leaders of the Church took to the streets in Accra to protest against the galamsey menace affecting water bodies and the health of newborn babies, the lawmaker did not mince words in stating that the Catholic Bishops Conference could have hesitated in the latest move. "I am a practising catholic, a mass server, a knight of Marshall, a former Seminarian, an MP and a Deputy Minister of State, if you ask me about the move by the Catholic Bishops Conference, I would say they could have hesitated, the church can always have a better approach. I am not happy", he wrote.
Background It would be recalled that last week Catholic Priests and members of the Church with Accra Archdiocese embarked on a prayer walk against illegal mining in Ghana.
