The Ghana Health Service has confirmed nine cases of cholera in the Ada West and East Districts of the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, 2024, it said that the first case of the disease was recorded on October 4, 2024. "The individual presented to the health facility with vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pains a couple of days after attending a funeral in Ada East.
Subsequently, the Ada East District also confirmed cases of cholera," the statement noted.
The service further outlined public health measures, including the establishment of Public Health Management Committees at all levels and an ongoing outbreak investigation and environmental assessment to help control the spread of the disease. "Daily active community case searches are being conducted.
