Residents of the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region have expressed happiness over the adjustment of the prevailing curfew from 2000 hours to 0600 hours, effective Tuesday. The curfew, which took effect on November 21, 2023, initially started from 1700 hours to 0600 hours. This adjustment comes after reports of sporadic gunshots were recorded in the Nkwanta township due to a tribal disturbance, leading to deaths, injuries, and the shutdown of businesses. Jonas Agbeko, a trader, expressed happiness, saying the extension of the curfew would go a long way to help them execute their businesses without rush. Another food vendor also shared her happiness about the extension, saying that at least their food would no longer go to waste.
