The Ghana Police Service has launched a nationwide manhunt for individuals responsible for the uproar between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nima, a suburb of the nation's capital, Accra.
In a statement released on Sunday, October 13, 2024, the police assured that calm had been restored in the area.
The clash between members of the two major political parties resulted in nine individuals sustaining injuries. "The Ghana Police Service has successfully restored calm in Mamobi, a suburb of Accra, following disturbances between NPP and NDC supporters that led to nine injuries," the statement read.
The Police also mentioned that seven of the nine injured individuals have been treated and discharged from the hospital, while two are still receiving treatment. "Meanwhile, an intelligence-led operation is currently ongoing to get the perpetrators who have been identified by the Police arrested to face justice," the statement read.
