Independent parliamentary candidate in Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has been incunted by a District Magistrate Court in Agona Swedru, from holding herself as a parliamentary candidate in the 2024 elections.
The court ordered that Cynthia Morrison refrains from any actions regarding the nomination process for the position of Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency.
The former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection won the seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016 and 2020,She lost the New Patreitoc Partry (NPP) primary in 2024, leading to her decision to run as an independent candidate.
According to her, the processes leading to the selection of a parliamentary candidate for the NPP were marred by favouritism and a lack of transparency, hence the decision to go independent.
