The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has stressed the need for traditional rulers to be focused on the development of their areas, and avoid land and chieftaincy disputes.

Mr Boateng said in the past, chiefs were particularly involved in wars, saying the era of war was over, and replaced with strategic development to reduce poverty and disease.

This was contained in a speech read for him at the inaugural ceremonies of four traditional councils in the Volta Region.

The four newly traditional councils inaugurated were the Agortime, Ave-Dakpa, Agave and Sokpoe Traditional councils in the Agortime-Ziope, Akatsi-North and the South Tongu districts.
