The presidential candidate of the Ghana Union Movement, Christian Kwabena Andrews, has outlined his ideas and strategies for addressing and combating illegal mining under his administration.
Speaking on JoyNews, the politician, who is also a man of God, stated that his next government would sign a pact with miners and would not permit any politician or foreigner to mine in the country if given the mandate.
He explained that he would meet with the miners to agree on a profit-sharing arrangement, where half of the profits would go to the government, and the other half would be retained by the miners.
Additionally, any agreements already signed between the government and the miners would be revised to facilitate the reclamation of lands and forest reserves. "Within 100 days, we are going to sit down with those in the oil fields and miners.
