The Osagyefo Youth Movement Unification Council has cautioned Ghanaians against supporting certain independent presidential candidates as the country prepares for the 2024 elections.
The council is advocating for the consolidation of smaller political parties to form a united front, aiming to challenge the two dominant political parties, the (NDC) and the (NPP).
During a press conference held on October 7, 2024, in Accra, the president of the council, Gyesi Nimako, expressed disappointment in several smaller political parties and independent candidates who have refused to join the alliance.
According to Nimako, the refusal stems from what he described as "selfish interests" rather than a commitment to the country's progress. "We initially sent letters and invitations to these parties, urging them to reconsider their decisions to run separately in the upcoming elections.
