The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Mr.
Martin Kwaku Ayisi has said that, the illegal mining activities will not end until small-scale miners are given specific designated places to mine.
According to him, the practice has been there since time immemorial but the recent a surge in activities and its correspondent impact is a result of the proper outline given to the small scale miners to mine.
He added that, persons whose mining license had been taken from them should be reconsidered and given the license to mine but guided through the proper way of engaging in the activities in order not to cause more havoc to the environment. "Apart from issuing licenses to the small-scale miners to mine, persons whose licenses had been taken should be given back to them.
