Fifty-two (52) protesters from the Democracy Hub group have been granted bail by the Accra Circuit Court following their arrests during a demonstration against illegal mining, also known as galamsey.

The protest, initially planned as a peaceful three-day event from September 21-23, 2024, escalated into clashes with police, resulting in the detention of several demonstrators.

On Monday, 21 of the protesters were granted bail, followed by the release of 19 more in the early hours of today, October 8.

The final group of 12 protesters was granted bail later in the day, bringing the total number of released individuals to 52.
