The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) Women, Peace and Security Institute (WPSI) with funding from the Canadian government, has organised a training of trainers' (ToT) workshop for stakeholders and national actors to support with monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Women Peace and Security Agenda in Ghana.The training formed part of activities under the Continental Results Framework (CRF) for monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Women Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in Africa.Speaking with Peace FM News, the Commandant for the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center, Major General Richard Addo Gyane said this training will empower women to take up leadership positions in the Armed Forces.He said they want to change the perception of women about taking up positions in the Armed Forces as they think the job is for men.Major General Richard Addo Gyane also said the program is to develop a manual to be used by the Ghana Armed Forces to empower women when they join the Army.The Gender Policy advisor to the chief of defense staff, Group captain Theodora Agornyo also spoke to Peace Fm News and said the training will equip the Ghana Armed Forces on Gender matters and issues.
