Convenor of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, has asserted that a State of Emergency is very necessary because many lives are at risk.
During a panel discussion on TV3's Agenda monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he urged the populace to come together to fight against galamsey activities said to be affecting everyone in view of the polution of water bodies.
He made reference to when the President during the COVID-19 shut down the country by announcing a lock down in order to control the spread of the virus and because lives were at risk.
Ken Ashigbey emphasized that the current galamsey menace has similarities to the case of COVID since lives are currently at risk hence the need for the president to declare a state of emergency.
