The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Mr Martin Kwaku Ayisi has said that until small-scale miners are given specific designated places to mine, the illegal small-scale mining (Galamsey) menace will not end.
Apart from issuing licenses to the small-scale miners to mine, Mr Ayisi indicated that persons whose licenses had been taken should be given back to them.
When they are licensed to mine, they will be properly regulated to ensure that destruction of weather bodies and the environment does not happen., he added.
Answering questions before the Assurance Committee of Parliament on Monday, October 7, he said "The small-scale mining is open to Ghanaians only so any foreigner who is involved in small scale is illegal.
