Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), claims Organised Labour's planned nationwide strike against illegal mining, known as galamsey, is politically motivated.

According to Akpaloo, the timing and nature of the strike suggest underlying political motives rather than a genuine concern for the environmental and social impacts of galamsey.

He questioned the sincerity of Organised Labour's leadership, suggesting that their actions might be influenced by political agendas aimed at destabilising the current government.

Akpaloo told Umaru Sanda Amadu in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Monday, "The timing is wrong because we have barely two months to an election and then you come with this strike then it means you are being motivated by a political party just to push the government in power away. "That is the only reason that will cause anybody to pick this stance because to me it doesn't make any sense that you should go on strike this time.
