Activist and Convener of the Democracy Hub, has been refused bail following his arrest by the Ghana Police Service during a recent galamseymuststop protest.
Mr Oliver Barker-Vormawor together with some Ghanaians embarked on a demonstration to call on the Government to put an end to galamsey activities following its devastating impact on the environment and livelihood of residents of mining communities.
The Police Service explained that, Oliver baker-Vormawor was arrested due to his illegal activities, which included alleged turning off and removal of a key to a Police Truck during the demonstration.
The court presided over by Justice Comfort Tasiame, denied his bail application, citing the need for further investigation and concerns about the possibility of public unrest if he were released.
