Lawyer and Communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr.
Philemon Laar has lamented how the government keeps issuing licenses for mining amid the fight against galamsey activities.
During a panel discussion on Joy Prime's Morning Show, Lawyer Philemon Laar stated that about eleven new mining licenses have been issued to people recently although there has been a call for a total ban on mining in Ghana. "Government issued 11 new mining licenses even when the President was begging TUC to suspend their pending strike on the 11th of October.
NPP might try to defend that they gave out licenses to people to do responsible mining but there are people in the forest doing galamsey but holding licenses as miners.
