An energy Analyst and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, has said that everybody is concerned about mining in water bodies due to the destruction of the environment and the rivers.
To that end, he said, the presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's message has been to promote responsible mining. "Mining in the water bodies, everybody is against it, there is lw that permit mining in water bodies, Bawumia's message has been to promote responsible mining," he said on the Big Issue on TV3 Monday, October 7.
Earlier, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said that under no circumstance should the rivers and other waters be destroyed by activities of illegal small, scale miners (Galamsey).
He says a Bawumia Presidency will collaborate with the mining communities to protect the environment while promoting sustainable mining.
