President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed deep concern over the current political situation involving Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
These three nations, which are founding members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), have recently taken steps that threaten their longstanding unity with the regional bloc.
President Akufo-Addo in an interview with France 24 on Friday, October 4, highlighted the gravity of the situation, noting that ECOWAS, a 50-year-old organization, has always been a cohesive entity.
He described the recent developments as regrettable and emphasised that no serious West African nation is pleased with the current state of affairs. "It has to be a worrying situation," Akufo-Addo stated. "ECOWAS is a 50-year-old organization, and until this decision on the part of these three states, there had been an important homogenous bloc for all three of them.
