President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the voters register.

The President stated that the demands made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a forensic audit of the voters register have been shelved, citing a lack of substance in their claims.

In an interview with France24, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the recent public broadcast by the Electoral Commission (EC), which he believes exposed the baseless nature of the opposition's allegations. "The other day the EC chose to broadcast publicly its deliberations on these issues, and I think the whole country came to realise that in fact there was no substance in the claims that the opposition was making," he said.

He further noted that the NDC has now agreed to follow the EC's outlined programme, implicitly acknowledging the futility of their previous demands. "They had now gone ahead to say that they will abide by the programme that the EC has laid out.
