The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has cautioned government regarding the alarming rise of illegal mining activities across the country.

In a recent interview, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GPRTU Alhaji Abass emphasized the urgent need for the government to implement effective measures to combat this growing issue.

The PRO highlighted that illegal mining not only poses significant environmental risks but also disrupts local communities and their livelihoods. "If the government fails to take decisive action, we will have no choice but to embark on a strike," the PRO stated, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Citizens Against Galamsey is currently embarking on a 3-day protest against galamsey.
